THE DREW — The 3,780-room resort on the north end of the Strip now plans to open in the second quarter of 2022. Diller Scofidio + Renfro just signed on as the design architect for the project, taking its inspiration from “the multiple ecologies of Las Vegas itself — the dynamic and rugged beauty of the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas’ early adoption of modern architecture, and the city’s enthusiastic embrace of spectacle.” So far, the resort has not released any restaurants opening in the former unfinished Fontainebleau. Originally, The Drew planned to open in 2021. [EaterWire]

The 1.25-million-square-foot, 777-room property plans to have a casino, multi-level pool amphitheater, spa, and restaurants, entertainment and gaming experiences, including the largest sports book in the country. The resort, which takes over the former Las Vegas Club site, plans to open in 2020. [EaterWire]
CHINATOWN — The Golden Tiki now has an animatronic bird show featuring Bud, a Peruvian booby bird, and Al, a Jamaican tody. Bob Stoughton, an animatronics expert, created the two birds with microcomputers, nano robotics, 3D printing, and hand feathering, with the voices recorded by Tiki Lee, a veteran of Disney Imagineering. The talking birds perform nightly. [EaterWire]
