Launched in late 2016 and still fiercely loyal to its Nevada roots, Able Baker Brewing Company has long dreamed of a one-stop micro-brewery, taproom, and dining destination for its battle Born Born collection of brews.
Work finally started to turn the ambition into reality, with co-owners Randy Rohde and James Manos sharing images of the construction process in downtown’s Gateway District.
A ubiquitous local presence at outlets ranging from Wahlburgers to the Press Bar & Lounge at the the Four Seasons resort, Able Baker is taking over 7,504 square feet inside a long vacant furniture store, a few steps from Wyoming Avenue. The location sits half a mile from the center of Arts District dining and drinking scene, and three blocks to the west of Dino’s Lounge.
Early paperwork estimated the taproom would be open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and add a 40-seat, 600-square-foot outdoor seating area, convenient for the fast casual, “killer food” menu they have planned.
Featuring room inside for 182 occupants, the large brewing area will include space for grain storage and a “lab” for future beverage creations.
Customers can sit around U-shaped bar, at the drink rails facing the two large garage doors, or at one of the indoor picnic tales. Pool tables and a shuffleboard setup are also expected.
Already finished stripping the empty shell building down to the ground, an estimated debut date has yet to be announced.
