Locally, Korean-style fried chicken has almost exclusively been found west of Las Vegas Boulevard, but a low-key and very casual newcomer hopes its collection of unique flavors will be as popular as the taco menu it replaced.

The easy to spot Rumy’s Chicken has taken over the 1,932-square-foot Del Taco at the Desert Inn Plaza, a short distance from Pecos Road and neighbors Donut Hut and Thai Food To Go.

Adding side dishes since its launch in late March, Rumy’s offers mashed potatoes, fries, coleslaw and a $1.20 fried biscuits glazed with honey butter.

Chicken is available in “whole size” wing portions, in orders of three pieces for $4.99, or as many as 12 pieces for $18.39, and strips ranging in size from five pieces, up to the $17.99 20-piece serving.

Customers can then choose if they want their meal prepared in “original crispy,” “garlic soy,” the “must eat” spicy or the sweet “Korean style.”

Rumy’s Chicken, 3244 E. Desert Inn Road, 702-750-9979. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9.30 p.m., opening at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
