A favorite with tourists and locals since 2016, Honolulu’s Matcha Stand Maiko expanded to Chinatown last May, promising a second location would soon be on the way to Henderson.
One year later, the Henderson reference has been removed from the company’s website, but the green matcha dessert specialists have filed local paperwork placing their next home nearer downtown, at the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets.
Yet to reveal the expansion, or an exact site at the outdoor mall, the Japanese company is better known for a smaller kiosk business model than the larger counter-service concept at 3400 S. Jones Blvd., close to District One and Chubby Cattle.
Importing its matcha and hojicha ingredients direct from a region south of Kyoto, Japan, the menu includes shaved ice, matcha soft serve, parfaits, tea, lattes, “kokuto gelatin” creations, and a collection of floats.
A future opening date, or operating hours have not been announced.
