Uncovered last September, the owner of Fremont Street’s Heart Attack Grill has revived his ambitious dream of a combination burger drive-thru and retro drive-in movie theater, rebooting the project with a new name and new energy as it builds to a debut later this year.
Jon Basso has returned to social media to promote Burger51, once known as Big Bang Burger, moving into a half-acre plot at 101 N. Decatur Blvd., a short distance from Carlitos Cuban Food and close to an entrance to Route 95.
Still designed around a kitschy sci-fi theme, the future home of the “UFO Burger” offers customers a “free movie with every meal.” Patrons place their order at the drive-thru and then can park facing the outdoor movie screen, scheduled to show vintage horror and science-fiction films.

Diners tune into a local FM radio frequency to hear the soundtrack and Basso is already encouraging short film creators to submit their movies for inclusion on the big screen.
Yet to reveal an opening date, original plans hoped to keep the drive-thru open from 10 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily. Currently promoted menu prices include single burgers for $2.99, with a “double” for $4.24, and “glass bottle soda” available for $2.25.
