Confirmed to be headed to Chinatown, Tai 2 Chinese Sauerkraut Fish is promising to be “coming soon” to Spring Mountain Road and has filed new paperwork to begin construction at Shanghai Plaza.
Created in early 2018 in California’s City of Industry and already expanded to Irvine, Californa, the Las Vegas restaurant will convert empty space C102 and has allocated $150,000 in estimated construction costs alone.
The location sits close to the first expansion for the westide’s Weera Thai Restaurant, also about to begin building on its new 1,776-square-foot home.
Tai 2 specializes in a self-described “extraordinary dish,” a “hot-and-sour fish soup” served with its own spin on sauerkraut, created with pickled mustard roots and greens, not cabbage.
Declaring the soup an “outstanding culinary masterpiece,” each serving is designed to be shared and eaten with appetizers of fried pork, chicken wings, or brown sugar rice cake. Cold dishes include black fungus wish Sichuan sauce, “chrysanthemum with chili sauce,” and stir-fried green pepper and egg.
Both California locations are open daily form 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m.
