Chef John Chien Lee, the name behind Soho Japanese Restaurant and three local Soho SushiBurrito outposts. debuted his latest creation and he won’t have far to walk to check on its progress.
Sojo Ramen launched at the southwest’s Concorde Plaza, less than a dozen doors down from his five-year-old Japanese restaurant.
Designed with light wood fixtures and filling 1,200 square feet at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Jones Boulevard, the casual restaurant is still growing its early menu.
Appetizers include a battered and fried tofu, crispy gyoza, kurobuta sausage, flash-fried broccoli, and pork chasu tacos.
Ramen bowls with a tonkotsu base include the pork-based Sapporo butter miso, spicy “kuro-goma tantanmen,” and the “Sojo champon” with pork chasu, all ringing in at $12.35 or less. Each can all be upgraded with extra toppings and condiments that include a “flaming” secret recipe option.
Also available, steamed, or fried rice bowls, a veggie ramen, and green tea churros for dessert.
