Mingo Kitchen & Lounge, the Mexican restaurant in the Arts District from executive chef Robert Solano, George Harris, and Mingo Collaso, closed over the weekend. The restaurant posted the closing on Facebook. “Sorry for the abrupt announcement but we have closed Mingo Kitchen & Lounge. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us for 14 years from La Madonna, Mundo & Mingo Kitchen & Lounge, Unless we own the building, we will not be opening another restaurant. Thank you again! Love, MC & GH.”

Mingo opened in April 2013 with an intimate bar with seating for 60, outdoor space, and chef Solano’s dishes such as chipotle mac and cheese, veggie sliders, and other modern American comfort foods and small plates.

Mundo, the Mexican restaurant that was at the World Market Center, closed in December 2015. Natalie Young’s Old Soul took over the space in February. La Madonna was at 6115 S. Fort Apache Road, serving Mexican food until it closed in 2009.

Collaso ran for the Ward 3 seat in the Las Vegas City Council this year.
