SBE Lawsuit Alleges the New SLS Owners Owe $450,000 in Licensing Fees

SLS LAS VEGAS — California-based SBE Hotel Licensing LLC, which owns the SLS brand, filed a lawsuit against Las Vegas Resort Holdings LLC for unpaid licensing fees. SBE claims Las Vegas Resort Holdings owes at least $450,000 in licensing fees, which had not been paid since last November for the hotel brand and restaurant brands the company owns, including Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres and Katsuya, which closed in March. Las Vegas Resort Holdings owner Alex Meruelo won approval last week as the new majority owner of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes. [AP via 8 News Now]

TREASURE ISLAND — Owner Phil Ruffin could be in the market to buy one of the Caesars Entertainment properties from Eldorado Resorts announced Monday once the merger is approved and final in 2020. He tells the Las Vegas Sun that a Strip property “that’s not part of a REIT (real-estate investment trust) would be of interest. Reno-based Eldorado announced plans to merge with Caesars Entertainment in a $17.3 billion cash-and-stock deal. Once approved by regulators, the joint company would become the largest gambling operator in the United States. Eldorado expressed interest in selling off one of its Strip properties. Caesars Entertainment operates Bally’s, Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, the Flamingo, Harrah’s, The Linq, Paris Las Vegas, and Planet Hollywood on the Strip, and the Rio on Flamingo Road. Only Caesars Palace and Harrah’s are REIT properties. [LVS]
