The new arrivals opening at Chinatown’s Shanghai Plaza continue at a rapid pace, but the latest to debut is a favorite local name launching its second tribute to the cuisine of Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Weera Thai has expanded from its very popular, nine-year-old restaurant on Sahara Avenue, and taken over a new 1,776-square-foot space a mile-and-a half to the south on Spring Mountain Road.
The original location, close to Herbs & Rye, features deep red booth seating and a wealth of gold design accents, while the new home has filled its smaller footprint with a lighter color scheme, inventive murals, and ceiling decorations, combined with a cheerful floral theme.
Currently open for lunch, followed by a later dinner service, the team has not revealed the entire new menu during its early days, but Weera Thai fans can expect many of their hit dishes, Thai street food specials, and nods to “Issan Northeastern style” cooking.
Weera Thai, 4276 Spring Mountain Road, C#105-106, 702-485-1688. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 3.30 p.m, then 5 to 11 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
