A Sailor’s Paradise Features a Chandelier Made from 14,000 Oysters

At long last, Southern California’s Water Grill has an opening date at the Forum Shops at Caesars. The seafood restaurant taking over the former Spago space that has been vacant since January 2018 opens on Wednesday.

Diners can expect to find an interior from Hatch Design Group fashioned like an old, sea-worn wooden ship. Early paperwork filed by Water Grill in December estimated a construction budget of $9 million to overhaul the spacious 14,000-square-foot project.

Hatch Design Group designed the space to look like a sailmaker’s loft with wide plank wood floors, a polished copper bar top, and the large wooden support beams throughout the restaurant. The restaurant’s bar features an oyster chandelier made from 14,000 oyster shells hand shucked by crewmembers, along with stylish fish scale tile that not only lines the raw bar, but accents each step of the staircase leading to the second level private event rooms.
