THE STRIP — Gindi Capital bought 9.5 acres on Las Vegas Boulevard, including the Hawaiian Marketplace and Cable Center Shops, for $172 million on Friday. Gindi is “working with its development and design teams to unveil plans for a new flagship retail, entertainment and dining experience,” according to a press statement. LAS VEGAS — Professional models Carmen Electra and Lucy Pinder and 10 others filed a lawsuit against five Las Vegas strip clubs they say used their photos for advertising without permission or payment. The strip clubs allegedly used “pirated” photos of them without their consent on social media and promotional flyers. The lawsuit cites that Can Can Room, Crazy Horse III, Girls of Glitter Gulch, Spearmint Rhino, and Play it Again, Sam violated the federal Lanham Act by falsely and misleadingly using the models’ images for advertising, and Nevada’s right of publicity law. HOUSTON — Billionaire Tilman Fertitta, who owns the Golden Nugget and Houston Rockets, wants to acquire one or two casino properties on the Las Vegas Strip that could be spun off from Eldorado Resorts’ acquisition of gaming giant Caesars Entertainment. On the Las Vegas Strip, Caesars owns and operates Bally’s, Caesars Palace, The Cromwell, Flamingo, Harrah’s, The Linq, The Linq Promenade, Paris, and Planet Hollywood Resort. Fertitta also owns Morton’s and Mastro’s steakhouses, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and Rainforest Cafe. Fertitta expressed interest in bidding on Caesars Entertainment. [The Houston Chronicle]
LAS VEGAS — Nord Bay Capital and TriArtisan Capital Advisors acquired breastaurant chain Hooters of America on Monday. Chanticleer Holdings and H.I.G. Capital, who previously owned the chain, retain stakes in the casual-dining chain. Hooters has a casino and restaurant just off the Strip on Tropicana Avenue and a 24-hour location in Spring Valley. Terry Marks, Hooters’ CEO, says the new owners plan to roll out more of Hooters’ Hoots brand where customers can pick up chicken wings in a hurry and servers dress more modestly. LOS ANGELES — Apparently celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is already rumored to be looking at a number of locations for his restaurant brands to land after news of his $100 million round of funding dropped last week. Ramsay plans to open 100 new restaurants across America by 2024. [Eater LA]
