The owners of Macayo kept their promise to return with the same menu, the same staff, and now an opening date for their new Mexican restaurant, the Blue Macaw.
A nostalgic local favorite for 59 years, Macayo’s shuttered in Spring Valley earlier this year, but is announcing a new culinary chapter will debut on Sept. 1.
The restaurant moves into the 7,200-square-foot, former home of Famous Dave’s Barbeque at 9695 W. Flamingo Road, close to the intersection of the 215 and Flamingo Road. The avian-inspired name is derived from the English translation of macayo.
Featuring a cantina and serving lunch and dinner, the family friendly menu will include the craveable TCT, toasted cheese tortillas, plus its lengthy roster of familiar dishes including, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and combination plates.
On the eastisde, the last local Macayo’s outpost is still open for business at 1741 E. Charleston Blvd., awaiting a new tenant before it will close for good. The 8,000-square-foot restaurant is currently available to lease, fully furnished.
