Tapas and Paella Sizzle Up the Southwest Later This Month

The rumors of Firefly heading to the southwest were confirmed last week when the tapas restaurant officially announced that it plans to open in the former Goodwich space. Owners John and Tabitha Simmons say they’ll open the 2,400-square-foot restaurant later this month at 7355 S. Buffalo Drive, near Fukuburger.

Firefly at one time had four Las Vegas locations. It’s original space on Paradise Road now houses Tacos & Beer with a revamped Firefly sitting just north of that location. A second location in Henderson is now home to The Stove. And a third, near Peccole Ranch and Village Square, is now home to Nacho Daddy. Oscar’s Steakhouse previously housed a fourth location at the Plaza.

The Southern Nevada Health District closed the original Firefly on Paradise Road after a 2013 salmonella outbreak made 294 people ill. SNHD found chorizo to be the cause of the outbreak.

The new location seats 80 diners with a sky light illuminating the space. A patio expands the dining options.

Firefly specializes in tapas and paellas meant to share. A salmon crudo, stuffed dates, patatas bravas, pulpo asado, camarones al ajillo, and albondigas make the menu, along with sangrias, mojitos, and other cocktails by the glass or in pitchers.

Firefly plans to be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 4 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, eventually opening for lunch, brunch, and late-night hours.
