Tacos El Gordo is such a must-visit destination on the north Strip that the restaurant operates two, separate fast-casual restaurants less than 350 feet from each other. The success hasn’t been lost on Southern California's 664 TJ Birrieria, which debuted its Tijuana-inspired menu right next door to the local favorites.
The new restaurant moved into the former site of Vegas Drink & Grill and Buzz’d, and diners order at the counter inside the compact 1,230-square-foot space, located within walking distance from the Wynn Las Vegas.
Launched in 2016 in National City and expanding to San Diego last year, the 664 TJ Birrieria specialty is birria, a shredded beef stew they prepare in tacos, the quesabirria with cheese, toasted tortillas, bowls, tostadas, and side servings of consomé birria.
Named after the Tijuana area code, also on the menu koko-aguachile featuring shrimp, octopus and coconut, a tomato cocktail, shrimp ceviche, menudo and a “seafood tower,” with flan available for dessert.
664 TJ Birrieria, 3061 Las Vegas Blvd. S, Suite 1A, 702-795-0199. Open from 7 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Tuesdays, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Mondays and Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. Fridays.
