Locally rumored to be making the switch to its future name of Sahara Las Vegas on the morning of Aug. 29, SLS Las Vegas is also making preparations to add an 18,500-square-foot combination nightclub, lounge, and theatrical space inside a new two-floor addition.
Sitting above the former Foxtail Nightclub, floor-to-ceiling windows will look down on the pool below and slide open to the night air.
An upper level partially visible from Las Vegas Boulevard is not planned to be open to the public and will be dedicated to storage and mechanical support.
Imagined by the award winning company that contributed to the look of Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plaza and Aureole at Mandalay Bay, Innovativo Design previously worked with the Sahara’s owner Alex Meruelo on his Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.
Yet to be announced by the property, work on the 75-foot tall completed structure will not begin until 2020 and no hints have been shared about the type of productions the space intends to host, but initial paperwork reveals the audience could sit around the central, circular stage.
The resort recently closed 800 Degrees pizzeria. The latest improvements around the casino also include a new Starbucks, a new poker room, and the start of a major lobby remodel with an estimated budget of $1,144,894 in construction costs alone.
