Celebrating 10 years as a seasonal favorite for iced snow cones, Purple Penguin is expanding from its four local shacks and moving into a location on Henderson's Water Street.
Joining the current dining and bar boom in the district, the kid-friendly restaurant will move into 129 Water St., directly across from the Rainbow Club & Casino and down the block from the highly anticipated Anderson Dairy Creamery, preparing to debut in early 2020.
Purple Penguin filed paperwork to add a walk-up on window for customers to grab and go dishes, plus create a seating area inside. Normally only open from April through September, it is unknown if this location will become a year-round attraction.
Operating two shacks in Henderson and two in Las Vegas, each site is open daily from noon to 8 p.m. and until 9 p.m on Friday and Saturday, serving dozens of flavors that can topped with cream and vanilla ice cream.
Each penguin shack rolls out limited-time “feature flavors” on Fridays and includes a handful of sugar-free choices. Among the less common flavor creations, the strawberry and coconut Tiger’s Blood, wedding cake, Red Bull, pink cotton candy, red velvet cake, and a light peach Fuzzy Navel.
