Philadelphia sports fans, rejoice. Just as the SLS Las Vegas officially converts to the Sahara Las Vegas comes news that a South Philly staple gets ready to bring its crab fries to the resort in time for the 2020 football season.
The original Chickie’s & Pete’s in Philadelphia sits within walking distance of the homes of the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers, making it a natural stop for pre-gaming or post-game celebrations. The 24,000-square-foot space features three bars and an 18-foot screen, making it practically the godfather of Philly sports bars, especially on game days.
Those crab fries feature crinkle cut fries with “crabby” spices served with two sides of creamy cheese sauce. Bowls of red or white steamed mussels, a two-pound Dungeness crab, snow crab, jumbo crab cakes, and Lisa’s Blonde baby lobster thin crust pie are just some of the notable dishes on the menu.
The restaurant takes over the former Umami Burger space, which just converted to Beer & Bets.
The Sahara also teases that several “new-to-Las Vegas fine dining concepts” are on the way as well.
On the casino floor, the Umami departure joins the recent closings of its sibling SBE restaurants 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria and Mediterranean menu at Cleo, which converts into the temporary Bella Bistro with pizzas and homemade pastas.
After pool season ends, Foxtail closes for a remodel. The year-long project will also include the addition of a two-story 18,500 square-foot combination nightclub, lounge, and theatrical space next to the main pool.
