A new restaurant celebrating the Bayou opens at the Gramercy in late fall. Chef Sandra Batiste, who owns the catering company BonaBatiste Taste Couture, plans to open Bayou Scratch Kitchen at the Westside complex.
The San Francisco native grew up with a grandfather who was a chef on the riverboats in Louisiana cooking Creole and Cajun food, while her grandmother from Texas was known for her pies. Batiste takes inspiration from them, along with her Bay Area roots, on her menu of po’ boy sandwiches, coconut chicken cajun lobster and crab, gumbos, and more.
Bayou Scratch Kitchen will also feature Mardi Gras-themed brunches on Sundays complete with soufflé omelets, shrimp and grits, beignets, and chicken and waffles.
The Gramercy already features DW Bistro, Kitchen Table Squared, Pinches Tacos, and The Cuppa.
Batiste has catering locations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
