Slowly progressing, but steadily on the way, two restaurants are headed to the westside neighborhood close to the corner of Charleston Boulevard and Fort Apache Road.

First revealed back in February, Claim Jumper at the Crossroads Commons retail center will eventually be replaced by a built-from-scratch 5,011-square-foot drive-thru Chick-fil-A, featuring an outdoor dining area and indoor playground. Original plans called for demolishing the Claim Jumper and also building a separate, 4,000-square-foot retail section.

Almost five months later, the Claim Jumper location remains dark, stripped of signage and still to be pulled down. Chick-fil-A has yet to updated the progress of the new site.

A short distance along Charleston, new restaurant Chinglish is preparing to remodel the former home of The Melting Pot, a 16-year-old fondue restaurant in the far eastern section of Boca Park.

Named after a slang term for poorly translated English words, the project started scrapping the interior to create the restaurant and bar, expected to serve westernized favorites and Cantonese classics. An estimated opening date has not been announced.
