The inevitable happens all the time in Las Vegas; another restaurant or bar closes. Some come as no surprise. Others break the hearts of fans. Here, keep track of every bar and restaurant closing in Las Vegas.
So far in 2020, Metro Diner closed both of its remaining locations. Wolfgang Puck closes his Downtown Summerlin restaurant to swap it out for a sports bar with Vegas Golden Knights as partners. Natalie Young’s second Eat location shuttered in Summerlin. And healthy restaurant Eatt Gourmet Bistro closed to make way for a special events space. Herringbone at Aria shuttered abruptly, and 1 OAK Nightclub at the Mirage called it quits in March. The Hard Rock Hotel closed, leaving behind MB Steak, Pink Taco, Mr. Lucky’s, and Nobu, among others. Some of those restaurants will return when the Virgin Hotel reopens in renovated space in fall 2020. Aria Cafe, Carnegie Deli at the Mirage, and China Tang at the MGM Grand all closed as well. Herringbone converted into Salt & Ivy at Aria, while Ricardo Zarate closed Once at the Grand Canal Shoppes.
Estiatorio Milos departed the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in October and plans a new location at the Venetian in 2021. Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill closed in November, with his Italian restaurant Amalfi replacing it in 2021. Flay says Mesa Grill will return to Las Vegas. Naked City Pizza closed its original location inside Moon Doggies in October. Flock & Fowl closed its Fremont East eatery in November. Pok Pok Wing from chef Andy Ricker departs the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in December.
Other recent COVID-19 restaurant closings include both locations of Miller’s Ale House Sweet Tomatoes buffets, Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant, Hamptons and Brio Tuscan Grille at Tivoli Village, Ben’Zaa Cantina in Centennial, Served in Henderson, Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro and Lagasse’s Stadium at the Palazzo, and Sin City Brewing Co. Eater 38 stalwart Sage closed permanently at Aria, along with Shawn McClain’s other restaurant there, Five50 Pizza Bar. Gelatology permanently closed due to the pandemic. And Smashburger closed three of its local restaurants.
