The secret restaurants and bars trend in Las Vegas shows no signs of letting up, with Más Por Favor Taqueria y Tequila arriving on the scene today at the Center at Spring Mountain. The footprint includes two distinct venues, with the front featuring a vintage taqueria serving street tacos from 11 a.m. until closing. Lanny Chin of The Slanted Door and formerly Greene St. Kitchen created the menu.
At 4 p.m., patrons in the know can begin walking down a tunnel passage, then search for a hidden door to enter a parlor serving cocktails and Mexican spirits.
Project partners Jai Shaun White and Aaron Wagner teamed up with Ryan Labbe and Jason Craig, both of Clique Hospitality and previous high-profile ventures, including The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hidden behind a working barbershop.
Tacos, of course, are the centerpiece on the taqueria side. Diners can choose from four styles of tacos served on hard or soft corn, hard or soft flour, or lettuce for the shells. Stuff the tacos with jackfruit, mushrooms asada, carne asada, barbacoa, adobo pulled chicken, battered shrimp, Cajun white fish, chipotle barbecue pulled pork, or al pastor.
The taqueria also has some specialty dishes such as the Goin’ in Deep with ground beef pico, white cheddar, and jalapeno, all Injected with nacho cheese and sour cream in an empanada shell; the Pullin’ Out with pulled pork, beans, and kimchi on a Hawaiian roll taco shell; and the Fresh Prince with steak, peppers, white cheddar, mushrooms, and onions in a puff tortilla.
The parlor with the secret bar opens at 4 p.m. with house margaritas on tap, and specialty drinks such as Sweet Melons Dude with mezcal, honeydew juice, and Meyer lemon juice; Milk Money with Reposado Tequila, almond milk horchata, honey, and coconut cream; and the Facial with gin, chareau liqueur, cucumber, agave, mint, and lemon juice.
