A long time coming, the second local home for west coast favorites Ike’s Love & Sandwiches has an official opening date near UNLV and will be serving exclusive menu items only available on the eastside.
Created by Ike Shehadeh in 2007 and rapidly expanding to dozens of outposts, the new 1,534-square-foot counter service space will open on the ground floor of the University Gateway Building on Thursday, February 6. Future hours are expected to be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m daily.
Revealing the debut on News 3, Shehadeh shared that the Maryland Parkway location, sitting between Tropicana and Harmon Avenues, will be the only place to order the “Hey Reb!” built with teriyaki fried chicken and the Nevada Southern made with vegan fried chicken.
Ike’s launched its first Las Vegas outpost at the Fashion Show mall last July and hopes to add an additional five stores to its local portfolio.
Famed for its Dutch, French, San Francisco sourdough, whole wheat, or gluten-free breads, and secret recipe Dirty Sauce available in more than 700 menu combinations, over-stuffed choices include Shehadeh’s personal favorite, the Paul Reubens stacked with pastrami, purple slaw, and French dressing, plus the halal chicken Robin Williams, beef meatball filled Super Mario, and the Steph Curry, prepared with turkey, yellow barbecue sauce, and provolone.
Future neighbors still headed to the university Gateway Building include Pizza Forte, a 7-Eleven, Sushi Joe’s, and Roberto’s Taco Shop, all joining recent arrivals Peet’s Coffee and Crumbl Cookies.
The Roberto’s Taco Shop replaces the very first Vegas location at 1220 E. Harmon Ave., which closes on Jan. 30.
