In a sign that Las Vegas somewhat gets back to normal, powerhouse pan-Asian restaurant Tao Asian Bistro & Lounge returns to the dining scene tonight at the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian tonight.
The 60,000-square-foot venue closed in March after Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered all nonessential businesses to shutter to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Tao celebrated its 15th anniversary on September 22, changing the landscape of Las Vegas with celebrity sightings, innovative nightlife, and a see and be seen setting meant for memories.
On the restaurant side of the venue, dinner returns every Thursday through Sunday from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Miso-glazed Chilean sea bass, spicy tuna tartare on crispy rice, and a giant fortune cookie are among the favorites that executive chef Ralph Scamardella serves in a space with waterfalls and a hand-carved 20-foot tall signature Buddha that “floats” on an infinity pool filled with Japanese koi. Sushi, sake, and dishes from China, Japan, and Thailand also come back. Maybe even the celebrities who became a staple of the venue return as well.
Make reservations in advance at 702-388-8588.
Tao also brings back its 15-year-old Worship Thursday industry party with a twist starting on October 8. Every Thursday starting at 10 p.m., Tao ramps up the night with the restaurant’s memorable dishes and drinks along with bottle service and a mood-setting DJ setting the tone.
Tao Lounge returns as well every Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to late with VIP bottle service and guest DJs dropping the soundtrack for the night.
On Sundays, Tao turns to sports in the lounge with game day fare, bottle service, and views of NFL games from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tao Group already brought back Lavo at the Palazzo in June with a supper club experience on Sundays and brunch, complete with a patio overlooking the Strip. Beauty & Essex at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas also returned in June, while Marquee Nightclub came back as more of a lounge experience and subdued pool party. Tao Beach already planned to go through a yearlong renovation at the Venetian with plans to relaunch in 2021.
