First revealed more than a year ago, restaurateur Chanthy Walsh is back on track to bring a substantial supper club to Water Street’s still expanding dining scene.

Located at 147 S. Water St., a short distance from chef Scott Pajak’s new restaurant, Triple B — Brooks Brothers Burgers at the Rainbow Club & Casino and also across the street from the temporarily closed Eldorado Casino, the Walsh family project originally expected to create a Mexican and Asian restaurant on the 6,400-square-foot lower floor.

Now renamed Chinitas, a nod to her long shuttered Chinita Mexican Bar & Grill at Town Square, the elaborate 2019 proposal also called for a large outdoor seating area focused around a small stage for live entertainment and mariachi bands, plus the addition of a new, second floor event space, large enough for almost 200 people.

Now making its way through the City of Henderson approval process, Chinitas has yet to update its revised plans for 2021. Walsh continues to operate Sonrisa Grill at Lake Las Vegas.

Still under construction a short walk to the north and south, the eagerly awaited and long-delayed Anderson Dairy Creamery and newcomer Street Burger, taking over the top floor of the three-story, mixed-use project at 37 S. Water Street.
