Less than three years after chef Craig Batiste, aka Mr. Fries Man, was still operating a food cart in south Los Angeles, his namesake loaded French fry restaurant is headed to Las Vegas, joining a future dozen expansions for the new franchise.
A Californian cult-food sensation, now serving in Gardena, Inglewood, and L.A.’s Figueroa Street, Mr. Fries Man is confirmed to replace the 1,350-square-foot Subway store at the Flamingo Market Place, a few doors down from India Masala and a short drive from Maryland Parkway.
The compact, counter-service menu specializes in big-appetite portions and the opportunity to customize each dish. Fry meals are served with cheese and a choice of sauce, plus piled high servings of barbecue, bacon, ranch and chicken, lemon garlic crab and shrimp, a chicken, bacon and Parmesan combination and plates topped with honey garlic shrimp and steak. A plant-based meat option is also available.
Reaching more than 375,000 followers on Instagram, Batiste’s team has promised the eastside location will be the first of two local outposts. Recently filing paperwork to overhaul the Subway interior, an estimated 2021 arrival date has not been revealed.
