Chicago’s Iconic Portillo’s Wants to Bring Its Beef Bus to Las Vegas

Plus UNLVino rebrands, Hyde Lounge has a hockey buffet, and Bardot Brasserie opens for breakfast

CAESARS FORUM CONVENTION CENTER — The food and drink festival UNLVino returns in 2020 with a new name. Evolution Las Vegas kicks off on April 18 at the new Caesars Forum Convention Center behind The Linq Promenade. The event, a collaboration between Caesars Entertainment and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Nevada, honors celebrity chef Bobby Flay with the Dom Perignon Award of Excellence, while the event itself donates a portion of the proceeds toward scholarships for students of the UNLV William F. THE STRIPPortillo’s, the iconic Chicago-based hot dog and Italian beef specialist, says it has no plans to open in Las Vegas, but that doesn’t mean a version of the beef bus can’t make a stop here. Fans can cast a vote to sway the brand’s food truck with cheesy fries, hot dogs, and Italian beef to visit Las Vegas through an online poll. [EaterWire]

T-MOBILE ARENAHyde Lounge holds an all-inclusive buffet and open bar at its Grey Goose Loft on February 17, Presidents’ Day, during the Vegas Golden Knights game against the Washington Capitals. The buffet includes cheeseburger sliders, mini corn dogs, mac and cheese bites, pretzel bites with 7Five Beer cheese, and apple tarts, as well as complimentary beer, wine, and 7Five Brewing Co.’s Training Day and Dawn Breaker starting at 1:45 p.m. The all-inclusive buffet will be available through the start of the third period, and the open bar will be served until the end of the game. ARIABardot Brasserie, the French restaurant from Michael Mina, now offers a weekend breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Dishes include a French omelet with Gruyère cheese, hash browns, and salade verte; Maine lobster scramble with Raclette cheese, mushrooms, and spinach; and hunter’s waffle topped with glazed duck confit, Maltaise sauce, and two poached eggs.
