LAS VEGAS — Vegas Uncork’d, the culinary festival from Bon Appétit, will not return in 2020 after typically taking over Mother’s Day weekend for the past 13 years. Lori Nelson-Kraft, a spokeswoman for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that, “While Vegas Uncork’d will not be returning in 2020, we are excited to continue showcasing Las Vegas’ culinary offerings in the destination’s next culinary adventure.” [LVRJ]
LAS VEGAS — Three Square Food Bank brings back Las Vegas Restaurant Week June 8-19. The event features prix fixe menus for breakfast through dinner at restaurants across the city, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the food bank. COSMOPOLITAN OF LAS VEGAS — Tekka Bar at Block 16 Urban Food Hall now features hand rolls created by guest chefs. First up, José Andrés with his jamón roll inspired by his Spanish tapas restaurant Jaleo at the resort, rolled with tomato and avocado, served with sherry dressing. Another, the gambas roll, features shrimp, Jaleo’s brava sauce, and garlic aioli, served with mojo rojo. For every one of Andrés’ specialty rolls purchased, Tekka Bar will donate $1 to World Central Kitchen, the nonprofit organization founded by Andrés that provides meals to those affected by natural disasters. The two original hand rolls will rotate weekly throughout the month of February. LAS VEGAS — Restaurateur Robert Earl, founder of Virtual Dining Concepts, launched Wing Squad, a delivery-only restaurant serving wings and sending them out via GrubHub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Postmates. Las Vegas joins Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Palo Alto, Orlando, San Diego, Seattle, and Washington D.C., in the initial rollout. The online menu includes six different flavors, including barbecue, honey garlic, Cajun, garlic Parmesan, sweet chili, and Buffalo, an option of sides including mac and cheese and two salads, as well as chocolate cake, a chocolate chip cookie, or chocolate chip brownies.
