La Monjá, the coastal Mexican restaurant from Dan Krohmer at Fergusons Downtown, adds brunch to the mix starting on February 15. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the restaurant offers a new menu spanning chilaquiles and huevos rancheros to cauliflower steaks and chia bowls.
The $15 chilaquiles feature a sunny side up egg, and diners can add chicken for $3. An $18 Milanesa torta features fried pork, while the $15 tofu chile verde comes with nopales and potatoes. Diners can order a quesadilla for $13 and add chicken for $3 or mushrooms for $2. Enfrijoladas, enchiladas with pureed black beans coating the corn tortillas, come with chicken for $16. Of course, La Monja uses Nixtamal corn tortillas. The $20 steak con huevos, $17 cauliflower steak, and $14 corn pancakes round out the entrees.
Other options include pozole, oysters, and vegan or mixed ceviche.
Any dish can include a tofu scramble, chorizo con papas, or huevos a la Mexicana on the side.
Krohmer also notes that the patio is now open at the restaurant that sits across from his other new hit, the Japanese robata-style Hatsumi.
