A new karaoke lounge on the Strip confirms it plans to open in early 2020. Kamu Ultra Karaoke makes its debut at the Grand Canal Shoppes next to SushiSamba at the end of March. The 17,000-plus-square-foot space features 40 private singing suites, as well as a menu from chef Chris Oh and cocktails.
Oh launched his latest venture, the modern Korean restaurant Um.ma., in San Francisco in 2019. The former Escala chef and original partner in LA’s Seoul Sausage Co. operated Chingu in Honolulu and Culver City, California’s Hanjip Korean BBQ.
Now he’s teasing the menu at Kamu Ultra Karaoke. Wagyu beef sliders, Parmesan truffle fries, and wasabi honey walnut shrimp all make the menu, along with focaccia with burrata and potato, prosciutto and mozzarella, or fennel sausage and mushroom.
A 48-ounce wagyu tomahawk steak with bone marrow butter and truffle salt; a seafood tower with chilled Dungeness crab, Maine lobster, Gulf shrimp, and oysters; and a $100 cup o’ noodle served with sliced A5 wagyu sirloin and seared foie gras are some of the more decadent menu options. Other dishes include caviar n’ chips with Ossetra caviar and salmon ikura served with sour cream and house-made potato chips; oysters by the dozen served with Champagne mignonette and Tabasco cocktail sauce; kalbi tacos; kimchi fried rice topped with fried egg; and Korean fried chicken.
Dessert options include chocolate berries, churro doughnut holes, and a sundae with Neapolitan ice cream served with salted hot fudge, sprinkles, roasted almonds, and whipped cream.
