The Southern Nevada Health District is investigating a suspected case novel coronavirus in an employee at Wet Republic Ultra Pool, the dayclub at the MGM Grand. The staff member self-quarantined and is recovering at home. The dayclub temporarily closes as a preventive measure.
Hakkasan Group, the parent company of Wet Republic, says the health department notified it on March 12 that it was investigating a presumptive positive case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) involving an individual who is an employee of Wet Republic.
“The safety and well-being of guests and employees remains our top priority, and we are temporarily pausing operations at Wet Republic until further notice,” Hakkasan Group says in a email to Eater Vegas.
Hakkasan also says that it is closing all of its Las Vegas venues temporarily, and its corporate offices for one week. That includes Jewel Nightclub and Liquid Pool Lounge at Aria, Omnia Nightclub at Caesars Palace, Hakkasan Restaurant and Nightclub and Level Up at the MGM Grand, Searsucker at Caesars Palace.
“We have learned that one of our employees has tested presumptively positive for COVID-19. The safety and well-being of our guests and employees has always been and will remain our top priority. Due to the unforeseeable ongoing impact of the COVID-19 virus we will temporarily suspend all our Las Vegas venue operations until further notice. We will also be closing our corporate office for one week. Our intention is to resume operations, pending further developments. In coordination with all recommended health and safety protocols from the Southern Nevada Health District, we will be continuing a professional deep cleaning and sanitation process of all Las Vegas venues.”

UPDATES: MGM Resorts just announced that all nightclubs and day clubs will temporarily close.

Downtown’s The Bunkhouse Saloon closes temporarily.
Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Tao Nightclub at the Venetian temporarily close. Additionally, Lavo’s Saturday Party Brunch and Sunday Endless Brunch at the Palazzo are currently suspended. Beauty & Essex, Lavo and Tao Asian Bistro remain open under normal operations.
