Two locally born concepts are pushing forward with future plans for Henderson and both will be taking advantage of their contact reducing, food delivery systems.
Mothership Coffee Roasters had hoped to debut its second Henderson location earlier this year, but is currently moving ahead with new paperwork for its signage plan, usually an indication of a final construction phase.
Luckily already equipped with a drive-thru, echoing its sibling Sunrise Coffee outpost in the southeast serving customers daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., the tall, 1,644-square-foot corner space will share a building with a Timbers gaming tavern that debuted back in January.
Located at the Gardner Plaza mixed-use hub at the intersection of St. Rose Parkway and Coronado Center Drive, the easy-to-spot coffee shop has been described by owner Juanny Romero as family- and kid-friendly, open and airy, and designed as a local focal point.
Yet to post an estimated opening date, the restaurant would be be able to operate its drive-thru until all COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Before the shutdown, the retail center was planned as a future home for Henderson’s own Il Chianti Italian Steak and Seafood, plus two newcomers, Scrambled, a breakfast-and-brunch restaurant, and Padrino’s Taverna Latina.
Also on the way, six miles to the northeast, automated delivery specialist Master Kim’s Korean BBQ is well advanced in its first expansion to Henderson and is already hiring front- and back-of-house positions for an undisclosed launch date.
The third local restaurant from Freddy Hwang’s Sapporo Restaurant Group, Master Kim’s staff take orders on an iPad and ingredients are delivered along a short track via a robotic server, ready to be grilled by customers at their seat.
Replacing the shuttered Yummy Grill & Sushi at the intersection of Marks Street and Sunset Road, the original Master Kim’s location at 7036 S. Durango Drive in the southwest remains open for takeout of a special bento box menu, plus butchered meat prepared to be cooked at home, including Black Angus steaks available by the pound.
