CARSON CITY — Some dire news for the state. Gov. Steve Sisolak tells the Las Vegas Sun that Nevada is losing about $2 million in estimated gaming-related taxes he closed nonessential businesses including casinos in March 17. Jeremy Aguero with the Las Vegas-based economic analysis firm Applied Analysis combed through data to find that the loses in Nevada’s tourism industry could reach $39 billion over the next 12 to 18 months. More than 320,000 workers in the gaming industry are out of work statewide. The loses could see local governments seeing a 20 percent to 40 percent drop in revenue as well. [Las Vegas Sun]
