Casa Calavera, the Mexican restaurant from Hakkasan Group opening at Virgin Hotels, shows off a bit more of its Dia de Muerte decor. Virgin Hotels planned to open on November 6 after renovating the former Hard Rock Hotel east of the Strip, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the group will reportedly announce a new opening date in mid-September.
Hakkasan Group opened its first Casa Calavera in San José del Cabo in 2018. In Las Vegas, the location offers poolside dining filled with Instagrammable art. Mexican tiles, pebbles, and stacked stone fill the space, along with mural art installations inspired by traditional calavera art, Lady Catrina, and symbolic references of Día de Los Muertos filled with altars, candles, butterflies, and marigolds. A tequila throne features marigolds, and diners can take photos in the chair.
The poolside setting includes sand on the ground, views of the pools, and a food truck with food and cocktails to go.
The restaurant plans to feature tequilas and mezcal, margaritas, mojitos, and craft cocktails, as well as house-made infusions, syrups, and essences.
