While new restaurants opening in Las Vegas serving Nashville hot chicken or bringing novelty ice cream show no signs of easing up on the gas with new locations on the way, a Plano, Texas-based burger chain makes plans to enter the packed burger segment of the fast-casual restaurant biz in Vegas. Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes opens its first of five Las Vegas locations in early 2022 in Centennial. The restaurant heads to the Montecito Marketplace at Durango Drive and Elkhorn Road anchored by a Smith’s grocery store, taking over a former See’s Candy space.
Burgers come in novelty configurations such as one with certified Angus beef and hot dogs, a barbecue version, and turkey burgers, as well as a black bean burger and bun-less version with lettuce. The chain uses Hebrew National hot dogs, french fries hand-cut from Idaho potatoes, potato chips made in house, and sweet potato fries. Eight flavors of shakes made with all-natural ice cream include Reese’s peanut butter cups and Oreos, as well as seasonal, limited-edition varieties such as pumpkin pie and Texas pecan.
Las Vegas resident Josh Aighobahi, a former clinical pharmacist, signed on to open three Mooyah locations to Las Vegas, with a potential for a total of five opening citywide.
