The invasion of Los Angeles-based Randy’s Donuts and its iconic giant doughnut sign continues with the doughnut chain planning two locations opening in 2021. The 60-year-old restaurant found in movies such as Iron Man 2 and Mars Attacks! bought an existing drive-thru restaurant at 2170 S. Rainbow Boulevard, formerly a carnitas shop, and vacant land at the intersection of Blue Diamond and Cameron. Both plan to open in early fall and winter of 2021. The Blue Diamond location already received approval to build as a drive-thru location.

But Randy’s Donuts isn’t stopping there. Mark Kelegian, owner of Randy’s Donuts, wants to open five more locations in Las Vegas in 2021. And he’s working with an unnamed local gaming company to bring additional outlets to casinos in Southern Nevada.

Two-and-half years ago, Randy’s Donuts promised to expand to Las Vegas, an iconic star of film, television, and music videos. On Tuesday, Eater Vegas exclusively uncovered one location coming to the southwest, bringing a landmark symbol of Southern California street architecture and a 24-hour menu of classic glazed doughnuts. That 1,500-square-foot drive-thru doughnut shop at 4693 Blue Diamond Road is currently an empty plot of land. The angled roof concept will sit close to Cameron Street, a Dutch Bros Coffee outpost, and a mile from the Silverton Casino resort.

The fast-casual project is proposing its own illuminated, free-standing, ground level, 18-foot replica of the original sign, plus a 24/7, 200-square-foot indoor counter-service space designed for takeout orders.

“Since I purchased Randy’s Donuts with my family in 2015, my intention has always been to continue the rich tradition of baking the world’s best donuts since 1962 and expanding that tradition beyond the city of Los Angeles,” Kelegian says in a press statement. “Las Vegas has grown to be known for more than its gaming industry, and we thank the city and quickly feel right at home joining its incredible food scene serving our beloved donuts.”

Randy’s Donuts features more than 60 varieties of classic, deluxe, fancy, and premium doughnuts along with Randy’s Rounds, a much larger version of a doughnut hole. The restaurant also offers Randy’s Roast, Randy’s Donuts propriety coffee roaster blend, served in coffee blends, espressos, cold brew, iced drinks, and frappes.
