Austin Powers Would Approve of the Shagadelic New Lounge at Virgin Hotels

The psychedelic ’60s return at the new lounge at Virgin Hotels. Customers find their way into the Shag Room, which sits behind the resort’s lobby bar, Bar at Commons Club, through an entrance that’s a photo booth to find a space right out of an Austin Powers movie filled with red and purple decor and purple shag carpet. A series of semi-private rooms provide smaller conversation areas with velvet curtains that can close off the plush seating. Sorry, no shagging allowed. The center of the room features a sunken conversation pit. Live entertainment performs on occasion.

Cocktails include the Bisbee with Laurel Smoked Woodford Reserve with Carpano Antica Vermouth and pimento bitters; the Ziegler with goji berry-infused Botanist gin with tonic bitters, gum syrup, and seltzer; and the Shagadelic with Ketel One Citron Vodka, Absinthe Ordinaire, simple syrup, grapefruit oil, and seltzer, all for $17.

Shag Room opens daily at 5 p.m.
