In a surprise Strip debut earlier this month, Tacos del Julio has expanded to Las Vegas Strip from Texas, launching a fast-casual menu, outdoor seating, and late-night hours.
A Houston fixture since 1990 and famed for its street tacos menu and green duck mascot, Tacos del Julio replaces Chew & Chug at the Hawaiian Marketplace. The steak and seafood restaurant relocated to the Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes food court last August.
An offshoot of a decades-old Monterrey, Mexico, franchise, the original restaurants inspired a Tacos del Julio’s house specialty, the seasoned and spicy taco de trompo.
Still to reveal an updated Las Vegas menu, announced Nuevo León-inspired dishes include campechana, doblada, pirata tortillas, and fried charro beans.
Tacos del Julio, Hawaiian Marketplace, 3743 Las Vegas Boulevard S., Suite #120, 725-204-8342. Open daily from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m.
