Shang Mian and BB.Q Chicken expanded their casual Asian dining menus to the Silverado Ranch neighborhood last year and now another hit restaurant, Chinatown's SomiSomi, brings its personal spin on Korean desserts to Eastern Avenue.
Moving into the home of two former food-crazes, Rolled Ice Cream and Soulfish Poke, SomiSomi is now open daily at the very busy Silverado Center retail hub, close to the intersection with Serene Avenue.
Specialists in warm, filled, fish-shaped taiyaki waffles and ah-boong, goldfish-shaped cones filled with soft-serve ice cream, the California franchise expanded to more than 20 counter-service stores in four years.
Somisomi pours the hot taiyaki waffles into a mold and then seals them with filling options of Nutella, custard, cheddar, taro, or red bean.
The ah-boong dish can be ordered in a cup, or as a stand-alone waffle cone, and upgraded with milk, matcha, milk tea, Oreo, ube, and Thai tea soft serve flavors, plus extra choices of fillings and cereal toppings.
SomiSomi, 9500 S Eastern Avenue #110, 702-405-6493. Open daily from noon to 11 p.m.
