More than three years since first revealed, Pennsylvania-based Bruster’s Real Ice Cream has filed new paperwork to bring a purpose-built dessert shop to Spring Valley, serving waffle cones, sundaes, cakes, and pies prepared the “old-fashioned way.”
Originally planned to be one of five franchises headed to the region, the updated filings still confirm Bruster’s is headed to an empty lot at 2860 S. Durango Drive, close to Edna Avenue.
The current plans have replaced the project designer and reduced the size and scope of the drive-thru venue, previously set to feature a 630-square-foot indoor seating section and a large kitchen dedicated to baking the crunchy waffle cones, custom cakes, and ice cream pies.
The family and dog friendly brand has grown to 200 stores since 1989, building its reputation on a rotating roster of 150 ice cream options, and requiring each owner to offer at least 24 different flavors every day.
Yet to estimate a new opening date, Bruster’s locations are traditionally open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m and closing at midnight on Friday and Saturday.
