THE STRIP — CityCenter agreed to sell a two-acre plot to 63SLVB for around $80 million last week on the site of the former Harmon hotel, the structurally unsound building that was never finished and dismantled. The site next to the Shops at Crystals on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue will become a retail complex with restaurants. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021. [KTNV]
TV LAND — Season 4 of Best Baker in America premieres May 3 on the Food Network with chef Carla Hall as the host, and two local bakers compete to win $25,000. Miranda Prince, the executive pastry at Hexx Kitchen + Bar at Paris Las Vegas, and Katrina Tayo, the executive pastry chef at SushiSamba at the Grand Canal Shoppes, completed against eight other bakers making classic American desserts in Tucson, Arizona. ARTS DISTRICT — Freed’s Bakery plans to open at 630-square-foot location near Main Street and California Avenue this summer. The bakery, which originally opened in 1959 and appears on the Food Network series Vegas Cakes, plans to focus on grab-and-go desserts with no seating. [LVRJ]
WATER STREET — The Watermark, which will offer housing, office space, and dining, broke ground in Henderson. Las Vegas-based Strada Development Group plans to develop the property with Sixty West, a Missouri-based company that specializes in historical redevelopment, and general contractor Gillett Construction LLC, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. A food hall with local restaurateurs is among the plans. [LVRJ]
