After nearly 14 months, Chinatown’s District One Kitchen & Bar reopens after a fire in the kitchen that started just after Nevada shut down nonessential businesses last year in March to slow the spread of COVID-19. The restaurant switched to takeout and delivery before a fire broke out in the kitchen, shutting down the restaurant. Now more than a year later, chef and co-owner Khai Vu’s Vietnamese restaurant reopens for lunch and dinner after renovations.

Chef Khai Vu renovated the floors, added a new hostess stand, and redid the bar area.

District One takes its name from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), which is separated into 12 districts and District One is the epicenter. The restaurant serves pho oxtail, pho tai nam with rib-eye steak, pho bo vien with beef balls, pho ga with chicken, pho tom with shrimp, and the decadent live whole Maine lobster pho, going for market price.

The restaurant is taking reservations at 702-413-6868. District One reports that it will offer bi-weekly COVID-19 testing for staff, pre-opening and post-opening, to promote a COVID-free environment.
