Mordeo Boutique Wine Bar closed at the beginning of the pandemic, and now the former member of the Eater 38 from chef Khai Vu gets replaced with a new fusion restaurant, self-described as “luxurious,” “premium,” “lavish,” and one-of a kind.
Long rumored to be headed into the 2,034-square-foot corner space, Osaka Sunset has slowly dropped hints that the Japanese tapas and wine bar menu will feature sushi, sake, sashimi, ramen, tempura dishes, and bento creations, plus the possibility of an omakase menu for adventurous diners.
The chef behind Chinatown’s District One Kitchen & Bar and the former Le Pho Vietnamese Kitchen in downtown Las Vegas debuted Mordeo in August 2018, close to the intersection of Spring Mountain and Lindell Roads, serving its own spin on Japanese-influenced Spanish and Latin dishes before closing in March 2020.
Future opening hours for Osaka Sunset have yet to be announced, but Mordeo eventually expanded from its dinner-only seating to offer a Monday to Friday power lunch.
