Downtown’s Flock & Fowl has finally shuttered, as owner JB Bagley prepares for a new restaurant to take over the space on the ground floor of the Ogden condominium tower.
Originally closing back in November, the restaurant and bar made a surprise and low-key return in early 2021, operating without original creators Sheridan Su and Jenny Wong. The restaurant shifted its focus from chef Su’s Chinese-inspired creations to serve a casual, American menu featuring cheesesteaks, sliders, wings, and half-pound burgers.
The restaurant, which is tagging the new closure “#deathtoflockandfowl” on Instagram, has yet to release details of its self-described “new identity,” or a timetable for completion.
Once home to gluten-free dishes at Wild, followed by the short-lived Itsy Bitsy: Ramen & Whisky, the location of the 2,500-square-foot space has proved a challenge to generate similar foot traffic found a block away on Fremont East.
Flock & Fowl originally opened in 2015 on Sahara Avenue near the Golden Steer, and then moved to the Ogden in 2017. The married restaurateurs remain committed to the downtown neighborhood and continue to operate Taiwanese-Chinese lunch destination Every Grain on Charleston Boulevard, plus locals favorite Fat Choy, inside the Eureka Casino.
