Still to be officially announced, but confirmed by current leasing documents, rotisserie meat and sandwich experts Karved appear to be expanding and replacing the now closed Yojiè Japanese Fondue at Village Square, a shabu shabu restaurant formerly co-owned by comedian Jo Koy.
The 1,572-square-foot space will reside next to “semi-organic” fast food concept Grabbagreen and a short distance from another recent closure, fried chicken specialists, Jollibee.
The Las Vegas-born comedian invested in Yojie Japanese Fondue prior to its 2015 debut, eager to promote its ”swish-swish” menu when he was performing locally. The brand’s Artesia, California, location has also closed and is now operating under the name Dip Shabu Shabu. Koy returns to the Strip in August, performing a limited residency at the Wynn’s Encore Theater.
Karved has been an eastside favorite on Maryland Parkway since late 2017, earning a loyal following for its rotisserie chicken and beef, plus porchetta, pulled pork and French dip sandwiches, wraps, and small bites, including pork belly and carne asada fries.
An estimated opening date has not been shared.
