Almost two years since it was first announced, heavy construction indicates Chinitas Tapas & Sushi is back on schedule for a downtown Henderson debut, and restaurateur Chanthay Walsh has dropped some hints of what to expect inside the large Water Street venue.
The restaurant, which is taking over a 6,400-square-foot plot at 147 S. Water Street, across from The Pass Casino and Rainbow Club & Casino, will focus on tapas and sushi, adding a fusion menu, full bar, a small stage for live music and an upper level space for banquets and private events.
Originally called the Familia Supper Club, the restaurant will also seek appraisal from the Nevada Gaming Control Board later this month to add video poker to the bar top.
Walsh continues to operate the Sonrisa Grill at Lake Las Vegas and was previously the owner of Chinita Mexican Bar & Grill at Village Square.
Using the Sonrisa Grill to preview the future menu, diners were served Thai carnitas sliders, a Hawaiian and diablo sushi roll, and ahi tuna taquitos.
An estimated launch date, or future opening hours, have not yet been announced.
