Chef Leticia Mitchell is headed back to Henderson, sixteen months after the Fiesta Henderson casino and hotel shut down due to the pandemic, along with her restaurant Leticia’s Cocina & Cantina there.
The Station Casinos resort initially closed down as a result of the state’s COVID-19 restrictions, but is now a self-described victim of “uncertain economic conditions,” admitting before the Henderson City Council, “there is no known reopening date at this time.”
As as consolation, Leticia’s Cocina will remain with the parent company and relocate four miles away to the Sunset Station. Mitchell continues to operate a similar restaurant at sibling destination Santa Fe Station on North Rancho Drive.
Permits to remodel a space inside the Sunset Station were issued back in May. An opening ETA and an exact location have not been been revealed. However, the casino floor was previously home to the large Cabo Mexican Restaurant.
Also operating fast casual Letty’s De Leticia’s Cocina in the Arts District, the full-service Cocina restaurants serve a vast selection of Mexican dishes, including Oaxaca cheese quesatacos, Mexican seafood, mole poblano, build-your-own burritos, and a popular series of lunch specials.
