Right on schedule, Weenies Charbroiled opened on the westside, serving its namesake hot dogs, plus pizza, sandwiches, and taco logs within a retro-diner setting.
Open less than a week, but already looking to franchise, the 3,163-square-foot counter-service space launched next door to steak and seafood restaurant Mariscos 701, expanding from Pomona, California, later this year.
Easy to locate at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, the restaurant features a black-and-white-tile floor decorated with red and white booth seating, vintage gas pumps, and human-sized hot dog statue.
Weenies Charbroiled uses Sahlen’s brand hot dogs, with regular and foot-long dogs that can be upgraded with chili, sauerkraut, homemade coleslaw, bacon, and melted cheese, as well as a variety of dipping sauces.
A house special is the Sonoran hot dog, also known as a ”Danger Dog,” featuring sausage wrapped in bacon and topped with cotija cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, corn, and avocado.
Customers can also order beef on weck sandwiches or two smaller sliders, and rolled pizza, or taco logs, with dessert options of churros and powered sugar funnel fries.
Weenies Charbroiled, 4760 W. Sahara Avenue, Suite 20, 702-258-2000. Open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closing at 11 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
