THE STRIP — MGM Resorts requires salaried staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19 starting October 15. New employees, whether salaried or hourly, must get vaccinated starting August 30, but employees who work exclusively from home are exempt. The company behind the Bellagio, Aria, Park MGM, New York-New York, MGM Grand, Excalibur, Luxor, Mirage, Mandalay Bay, and more says that it offers pop-up vaccine clinics at each of its properties. Unvaccinated employees are required to either pay a $15 co-pay for onsite testing or obtain a PCR test elsewhere and bring in the results. [News 3 LV]
NEVADA — Gov. Steve Sisolak unveiled a new program where large-scale events such as Las Vegas Raiders games at Allegiant Stadium or concerts at venues such as T-Mobile Arena can allow attendees to forego wearing a mask if they present proof of a COVID-19 vaccination. While not a vaccine mandate, the new rule gives producers who host events with more than 4,000 fixed seats an option to only allow vaccinated attendees. Those who are partially vaccinated or under age 12 have to wear a mask. Producers must require tickets or registration and events can only be open to those who have tickets or are registered. The event operator must maintain access control that prevents unticketed people from attending, and event operators must implement a method of verifying vaccination status that is accurate, effective, and reliable. If someone fails to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, they must not be admitted. Again, this is optional, not mandatory. Nevada requires everyone to wear a mask indoors regardless of vaccination status. [EaterWire]
