A short walk from a previous Reno import, The Cake Slice will soon debut homemade butter cake creations on the westside.

Currently operating three bakeries across the Sparks and Reno region, operator Michelle Obenrader-Kitchen hopes to launch the first of four Las Vegas locations by September 16, with a second expansion already eyed for October.

Initially specializing in eight-inch butter cream cakes prepared with custom flavors, or 15 tried and tested combinations, the company’s shift to serving individual slices during the pandemic proved to be a huge success.

Replacing the 1,120-square-foot Little India Cuisine Halal at the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Durango Drive, The Cake Slice is a short walk from the very successful Peg’s Glorified Ham n Eggs breakfast and brunch restaurant.

The westside site provides a working kitchen, while the next local expansion will only require a counter-service storefront.

On the menu, pieces of cakes served in a cup or rolled into a “cake bomb,” plus individual slices including cookies and cream, “funfetti,” lemon blueberry, carrot and German chocolate.
